Just the Goods Quick News and a Question
Hello!
I hope you’re having a great week so far, and that you’re seeing beautiful signs of spring all around you! 💚
In my last “quick news” message, I mentioned I’d be offering a few new limited edition items including a winter forest scented hand/body lotion. Well, since I’ve had spring on my mind, and since I was working with cardamom rose a few weeks ago when I shared a tea blend with you, I decided to do something different instead…
New limited edition offerings
Cardamom, rose, and a touch of anise for sweetness… this limited edition hand and body lotion evokes the soft scent of a delicate custard dessert. Offering soothing aromatherapy upon application, this is not a perfume product so it doesn't linger, which makes it suitable for wear at times/in places where strong scents aren't welcome.
Like Just the Goods' regularly available hand/body lotion, this variety is made from grape seed oil as an affordable base for an effective, fast absorbing, and long lasting moisturizer.
I’ll keep the winter forest idea for November … this item will be available until the end of March 🙂

Looking to Spring as a symbol of the things we could all use a little more of right now, this herbal bath salt is blended to celebrate a meaningful combination of dried botanicals and to highlight a dreamy floral scent.
Featuring:
pink salt: self love and empowerment
lady's mantle leaves: love and signal boosting
jasmine blossoms: dreams and confidence
dried orange peel and essential oil: love and happiness
mint leaves: protection and abundance
honeysuckle petals and attar: abundance and intuition
hyacinth attar: replacing heavy feelings with playfulness and joy
This is a limited edition item made with materials not regularly kept on hand. As such there are only a few jars available, making them final sale. Thank you!

Some of you may have noticed the recent article in The Guardian wherein it was reported that plastic recycling has not been taking place on the scale suggested by those in the industry. For lots of us, this is not new information, but it’s still good to see published.
I’ve been striving to move away from plastic for a few years and have, in this interim moment, offered the option of either plastic or food-grade aluminum bottles for products such as face wash, moisturizer, etc, while hoping to make a more formal and final transition. Indeed, some of you may have noticed that 4 oz deodorant refills and massage oil are no longer offered in plastic.
In this process, I’m discovering aluminum packaging is a barrier for some folks including those who are allergic to nickel, and those who affected by the slightly higer cost of aluminum bottles compared to plastic ones. However, I’m also noticing some folks are concerned about research from the 1960s and 70s that has since been updated -- both American and British Alzheimer's focused organizations have sections on their respective websites busting myths about correlations between aluminum and Alzheimer’s (see links below). Meanwhile, research about the degree to which plastic harms our bodies (ie. endocrine disruption, insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, cancers, etc) and harm to multiple interrelated biospheres is becoming more widely recognized.
I’m very eager to move toward a plastic-free range for the benefit of the environment and our collective health, as well as to keep Just the Goods as affordable as possible by streamlining the cost of purchasing/storing multiple types of packaging, reducing the time it takes to make products in both types of packaging, and minimizing shipping errors in cases where one type of packaging is ordered and the other is shipped by accident.
Question: Are you interested in seeing Just the Goods reduce the amount of plastic used in products by phasing out plastic in favour of safer aluminum bottles?
My research about the multiple benefits of aluminum packaging over both plastic and glass can be found here: https://justthegoods.net/pages/jtg-is-becoming-plastic-free.

Another interesting article in the Washington Post about the plastics industry speaking directly to students with the intent of countering abundant research concerning the harms of plastic waste can be found here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/02/13/plastics-schools-plastivan-recycling/

I’m planning to share this conversation on social media in the coming weeks but since so many of you have been part of Just the Goods’ story for over a decade, I thought I’d ask you first. I look forward to your thoughts! 🙂 Thank you in advance!
