Just the Goods Quick News - Latest Update Re: Tariffs on Canadian Goods Entering the United States
Greetings, everyone
As you’ve no doubt heard, a 25% tariff is now applicable to all products of Canadian origin entering the USA.
— HOWEVER, at this time, the de minimis exemption allowing shipments valued under $800 USD remains intact —
What this means is that I am still able to ship orders to folks in the United States as normal… for now. And, since I can continue to clear customs on the Canadian side of the border at no additional charge, I have NOT increased product prices for US customers to cover tariff costs and clearance by a customs broker in the United States.
Please be aware that circumstances may change at any time. In that case, any order placed before tariffs become applicable on orders under $800 USD may still require additional payment before the order can cross into the United States. In such cases, folks will be contacted before their order ships. And, please know that I’m still unable to ship products of Chinese origin into the US (i.e. stainless steel Gua Sha tools) so those items are no longer available to add to orders destined to or through the United States.
In accordance with this, folks in international destinations beyond the United States may still use US-based virtual mailboxes (which are especially valuable for clients in the UK and EU to satisfy VAT pre-clearance requirements), and they may still benefit from discounted shipping rates such as the collaboration between USPS and Australia Post, etc.
I know I'm extremely fortunate to be able to continue serving folks in the US, and to do so without needing to increase product prices. I'm sorry for everyone who will be affected by wholly unnecessary price increases while already pressed by wholly unnecessary greedflation. I'm also sorry for forthcoming job losses on both sides of the border. I hope all of this is walked back, and soon. I’ll continue to provide updates as they become available.
Please take care, everyone, and be safe.
With all best,
Milena
